A little help before the chase
Good questions.
Wondering how it works? Start here, or ask us a question. For a specific game, open its details page to ask your question.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. Open Games are for people who want to play but do not have a full group, or want to try The Chase before bringing their friends. You meet the other players at the shared starting location and form teams together.
Will there be a host?
A host is present at most Open Games, but is not guaranteed. Check your event listing for confirmed host information. At a self-organized game, players meet at the starting location, introduce themselves and form teams together.
Do I need to sign up?
Yes. Register for a free spot on Eventbrite so everyone knows how many people are joining. If your plans change, change or cancel your registration on Eventbrite so we can plan the teams.
What does it cost?
Open Games are free to play. Bring your own valid local public-transport ticket; transport costs are separate and depend on your ticket and city. Register through the Eventbrite link for your chosen game.
How long does it take?
Allow around 2½ hours: a short briefing, team formation and up to two hours of play.
What should I bring?
Bring a fully charged phone with The Chase installed, mobile data, comfortable shoes and a valid public-transport ticket for your city. A power bank and water are handy too. Download the app before you arrive — it takes a minute and the game starts right on time.
What if my city has no announced date?
Only announced dates are listed as upcoming games. If your city has no date yet, subscribe to the newsletter for updates. Check each dated listing for its meeting point and Eventbrite registration before making plans.
Do I need to run, and can I ask about access or age requirements?
The Chase is designed around strategy, walking and public transport. Running is not required. You will move between city streets and transport stops. For step-free access, age requirements or other participation needs, contact the Open Games team before registering; arrangements depend on the event.
What if the weather changes, I am late, or I need to cancel?
This is an outdoor game, so wear clothing suited to the weather. Check your Eventbrite listing and confirmation for event updates and arrival instructions before travelling. If your plans change, cancel your registration on Eventbrite. For weather or late-arrival questions not answered there, contact the Open Games team.
